Colorado Avalanche Tickets
The Colorado Avalanche started its existence as the Quebec Nordiques until the team moved to Denver, Colo., before the 1995-96 season. In its first season, goalie Patrick Roy was traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Avalanche and gave the team the boost it needed to win its first Stanley Cup. Helping Roy were Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg, as the Avalanche swept the Florida Panthers in four straight games to win the NHL Championship. The Avalanche repeated the performance at the end of the 2000-01 season when the team beat the New Jersey Devils in a seven-game series to win the Cup. The team went through a dry period when it failed to make the playoffs, but over the past couple of seasons, it has renewed itself with plenty of action and winning. In 2017-18, the team bettered the previous year’s record by 21 wins, making it to the first round of the playoffs where it lost to the rival Nashville Predators in six games. In 2018-19, the Avalanche made it to the second round, losing to the San Jose Sharks in seven games. Grab your Colorado Avalanche tickets at StubHub.
Who is the Avalanche's head coach?
Jared Bednar was hired as the Avalanche's head coach on Aug. 25, 2016, to become the seventh coach in Avalanche’s history. In his four seasons, he has taken a team that was floundering and has produced two straight winning seasons that resulted in Colorado making the playoffs where they defeated rival Western Conference Calgary Flames in five games. Bednar spent his professional hockey career in the minor leagues, but he has excelled as a coach since taking the Columbus Blue Jackets minor league team to the Calder Cup Championship in 2016. In 2017-18, Bednar joined the legendary Harry Sinden as the only coaches who have coached their teams to 20 wins or more in their second season.
